Anthology

Previous anthologies: Fear, Joy

Chainsaw Comics is now taking submissions for our third print anthology! The book will once again be edited by three of the artists on Chainsaw Comics’ current roster: Aaron Brassea, Nathan Stryker, and L. Nichols. The theme for the anthology is “Crazy”. You can make your comic with any take on this theme.

Length: We would prefer for submissions to be between 1 and 5 pages, but we’re willing to print something longer if the story genuinely requires more space.

Formatting: The book will be printed at 5.5″ by 8.5″, with a live area of 4.75″ by 7.75″. Please format your file to be 4.75″ by 7.75″ with no white border around the edges. Pages should be saved as a 600 dpi gif for gray scale (use “Save for Web” in Photoshop to help keep the file size down) or a 1200 dpi bitmap tiff for pure black and white.

Content: We would love to see a huge range of genres and styles, so go with however the theme works best for you. As with the website, we would like to keep the book mostly all ages friendly, so no excessive swearing, graphic violence, or nudity. As a general rule of thumb, try to keep submissions PG.

What we don’t want so see: Anything that we feel is mocking the mentally ill will be rejected outright. Also, while we want to see crazy stories, events and situations must adhere to their own internal logic. Non Sequitur comics can be fun, but this anthology is about stories.

Cover: We will also be accepting submissions for a cover image. The image 4” x 4”, full color, and should be at least 300 dpi. Please send cover image submissions as a psd or pdf file.

Deadline: All comics must be received by November 30th, 2013. If you can send your comic in earlier, it will be very helpful for us and could possibly help your chances of getting in the book.

By submitting a comic for Chainsaw Comics Presents, you are granting Chainsaw Comics the rights to publish it in the book, and to use it and your name for promotion of the book. You retain all other rights to your work. Submitting to Chainsaw Comics Presents does not guarantee that your comic will be included in the final book.

Due to the number of artists included in the book, Chainsaw Comics cannot afford to provide a free copy to each contributing artist. However, a reduced artist price will be offered upon publication.

Please send all submissions to anthology@chainsawcomics.com, along with your name, the title of the comic, your website, and a short (one to five sentences) bio. Please do not include your website in your comic, as we will add it under the first page.
